Anyone baking should buy an oven thermometer, the range for this product does not extend to the temperatures an oven can reach (like 500).

Oven thermometers are metal. This one would melt very quickly and it says 140f is the max.

This one won't, but they make oven thermometers (they look very similar to this). They aren't expensive, and definitely worthwhile if you don't trust what your oven is telling you.
