I haven't used it, but the site looks legit to me. The domain name belongs to either CR directly or to Buysub.com, which manages subscriptions to hundreds of legit magazines.

They make you check this box for automatic renewal:
"Automatic Renewal: By checking this box, you authorize us to charge your account the above rate plus tax for the term shown. Your membership will auto renew annually for the rate then in effect, currently one year for $26. Cancel anytime at cr.org/myaccount."
Be sure to either use a one time credit card or cancel it!

CR hasn't been relevant in 15-20 years. They lost all credibility with me when they had the Mercury Grand Marquis as a well reviewed and reliable vehicle while rating the identical Crown Vic as mediocre in the same categories. They're literally the exact same car other than some cosmetic trim bits.

It's amazing how many free digital benefits your local library provides !
How does that work? Like how do you access the content or receive the digital webfront? Do you have to be using a library computer, or something else?
I'm not really interested in periodicals/magazines, but I do enjoy researching feedback/reviews on products as one of my data points for consideration.

They still do that. They rate the Hyundai Palisade below the KIA Telluride because they find the electronic shifter being confusing. From a safety perspective, it's impossible to exit the Palisade with the vehicle in drive, while you can in the Telluride. This is why many vehicles are going to electronic vs conventional mechanical shifters. And according to IIHS Telluride has inferior headlights.
I thought CR was about promoting safety?
I was a long time subscriber but found many examples of CR missing things in their comparisons. Plus; their format has changed and will force you to buy the digital version to get real comparisons. I no longer blindly trust CR but I do refer to them through my library only to help with things to look for, and then I do my own fact-checking. I cancelled my subscription and just use the library's free access.

Good. They're fighting the good fight to get the word out. Appreciate them for that.
