While I am disappointed in the cpu I just couldn't pass this up. Here are a couple of deals that popped up recently that are comparable but also had issues:

https://slickdeals.net/f/18433702-15-6-msi-thin-laptop-144hz-1080p-ryzen-5-7535hs-rtx-4060-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-2025-649-free-shipping

Reading the thread this laptop was severely underpowered.

https://slickdeals.net/f/18479773-lenovo-loq-15-6-fhd-144hz-i5-13450hx-rtx-4060-16gb-ddr5-512gb-ssd-699-99

This was a great deal with a better cpu but +$50 and Lenovo.

https://slickdeals.net/f/18457579-hp-victus-15-6-fhd-144hz-i5-13420h-rtx-3050-6gb-8gb-ddr4-512gb-ssd-499-99

The cheapest gaming laptop available but with obvious compromises.

Overall this is a great deal. I've had good experiences with Asus and the 4060 is definitely a step up. The cpu while slightly inferior is still a solid chip.

Yes and two RAM slots as well. It also has a MUX switch for the video output, which is awesome at this price point. Wish it had a better CPU, but otherwise an amazing deal.

I recommend a Llano laptop cooler stand to go with this (and any stationary gaming laptop, tbh). Got one for my old Asus G16 w/4060 and it helped run things super cool under full load for video/photo editing and gaming - not a single thermal throttle.

I own a A16 but is very similar to this. It's pretty solid. You may need to disable cpu boost(I use g-helper) to stop it from overheating and causing it to restart. Also, the SSD's included in the A16 were well known to be defective garbage. Hopefully A15 is better there. Honestly, if you don't NEED a laptop then just buy a desktop. It eliminates a lot of the issues you run into with laptops like overheating and severely limited available upgrades.
thanks

Nothing in-store in my region, so no chance of taking advantage of the $20 promo GC for $60+ in-store purchases. Anyone else see this in your local stores?

I second this - my primary machine is a business laptop with a 25W processor (nowhere near gaming level), and using any inexpensive laptop stand/cooler is great: the laptop will last longer, and will perform better.

I snagged the A16 with a 7735HS CPU and a RX7700S GPU on sale for $680 at Best Buy and it's been a phenomenal laptop. If you can find my variant, I'd highly recommend it as the 7700S is a big upgrade vs a 4060.

How likely are we to see anything comparable or better during Black Friday? Extremely tempted to buy this.

My guess is pretty likely, just depends on if you can wait another 3 months or if you need something now.

Deciding between this and this one: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-v...Id=6623881

Main differences I can discern are Ryzen 5 vs 7, and also 90w batter vs 70w. Not sure which is better overall.

I haven't seen a great Black Friday deal in 15 years. That said, there are other deals if you wait. There always are.

I'm thinking about this and the other deal from Best Buy (in fair condition). Which one would you recommend? Thanks! https://www.bestbuy.com/product/l...ition=fair
