Typically I use these on vacation the most, rather than having to buy a new cooler, these are packable. I will pack these along for daytrips in the rental car or bike/hike with them. Perfect for two people - some ice, 6-12 pack, and couple sandwiches.
I also use them locally on occasion for quicker trips I dont want to use a cooler or will need my hands for something else.
It's niche, but they have their place where they're optimal or save you from buying and handling a brittle styrofoam cooler.

Why do I have to buy styrofoam?

It just seems that I'd buy a real cooler if I wanted a cooler. Never wanted to carry an 18pk on any meaningful hike.
