not trying to threadcrap but hasn't this model been $299 pretty much everywhere for a few weeks?

I was hoping to find one at $250 or $275 before I have to pull the trigger for college-bound kid.

yup.. 299 is NOT a sale... SD is off my home screen for good. it was a good for years , but last 18 months is full of shills, promotion, or folks who don't know what deal is. Monthly sales are NOT deals, never were. I'll keep SD simple as a reference when I need something... otherwise it's useless.

most posts are regurgitating flyers or major retailers. I suppose SD has to encourage that since evidently true deals are less often the app would be stale

I'm no SD staff, but...SD is a business. As we all know, the cost of everything, including wages, has put the squeeze on many businesses. If what you see is true, then it's likely to help them maintain and pay their expenses while continuing to provide a FREE service. Look around -- literally every streaming service or cell provider is raising prices on a somewhat very regular rate. SD can't raise their price since it's free, so they need to get more revenue from clicks.

Again, just my guess but it makes sense to me.

As usual even though I don't prefer Apple tablets, I will have to clarify for the Android users. Put another $100 and get an S9 with similar performance that includes an s-pen, 120hz screen, and most importantly OLED. Not on sale right now, but it's bound to be on sale again soon. The Pixel Tablet was recently on sale for $300 too... There aren't crappy Android tablets, it's just that people aren't looking hard enough. Stick to the main brands and you will be happy.

What "android tablet" (too broad category), and what was the issue? iPads are good for casuals since their non-sale price is competitive, but this is SD. Just stick to Samsung, Google, Lenovo (Motorola), or OnePlus and you will be fine obviously...
