There are some drawbacks, such as slower peak speeds, but one alternative I've used is to buy a micro SD card and adapter.

You can find some decently fast adapters, like this one.

Wow yeah the adapter speed on that one is slow. Better off using USB3 apparently.

Damn. OOS at Samsung's site. I'm very leery of ordering any kind of memory card/stick from Amazon due to the high occurrence of counterfeits that "commingle" their way into ones sold by Amazon

I bought the Fit Plus December 2022 for $25. I used to have it plugged into my gaming laptop. After being connected for a while it would disappear from the devices list. Unplug it, reconnect after a while and it showed connected again. I can only conclude that it overheats. This never happens with any of my other flash drives. As a matter of fact, one of my flash drives is connected continually (used for backup)/

Where the heck are the USB-C versions of small USB drives like these?! Seems like all the USB-C drives are considerably larger.
What about something like this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09WB2NL8W

This is the first high capacity drive which has lasted being kept in my car. I use it for music while in the mountains.
Hot mountains or cold?

Just keep a usb to usb-c adapter near the drive. Problem solved for about$5 or less

Nope. That is actually a Samsung power saving "feature" on this device. You can disable it disconnecting all other USB devices, so you can identify the device and USB port, and disabling the USB power saving feature for the device in Windows. It's been quite a while, but after thinking to myself that it seemed like a power saving issue, I did some research, and found an article online explaining how to disable it. It was only really an issue for my use case because I had encrypted the Samsung Fit, so each time that it went to sleep, I had to re-enter the password. Got to be a PITA. Hope this helps anyone for whom it is an issue.

Interesting. Thanks.
Care to post the URL to the article which you mention? Just would like to follow the steps of disabling the power saving.

Yep, those are the closet option. Just not as small as those in the post.

I didn't bookmark the article since it wasn't specific to the Samsung Fit, but rather USB power saving in general. Here are my notes for how I did it: If you have multiple USB storage device connected, remove all but the Samsung Fit. In Device Manager, look for Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Expand the category and the drive will be listed as "USB Mass Storage Device". Right click on it and select Properties. Select the Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Click the OK button and you should be good to go. Hope that helps you out.

Is this good for Tesla security
I wouldn't rely on it, especially if you do monitoring while the car is parked. That means you are basically recording 24/7. Mine lasted slightly less than a year before it started reporting slow write speed and unsuitable for the car. I would get an high endurance SD card with a USB adapter for it. I am not aware of high endurance USB stick, but maybe you can find one for your use case.
