Fantastic impact. It will take off lug nuts no problem. I have the 1/2 version. However if you watch the YouTube reviews and on reddit there is a common complaint that in order to get the advertised 550 lb/ft of torque you must use one of the high output batteries (like the 5.0). Apparently there is a noticeable difference when using one of the regular batteries, such as those that come with this kit. IMO great deal regardless if you have other M12 tools to use the batteries in.

Where? I only see the tool for $199. I'd love to get the 1/2" version for $120.

It's a hack, but it does also apply to the 1/2" on that same page, so that's great news for you! 👍🏼

If the job requires you to use the tool all day, or you're a DIYer and have to crawl under the car, you can't ignore the weight of your power tool. If you're only buying the impact tool to change a tire occasionally, it doesn't matter which one you get; this stubby 2nd-gen is powerful enough to remove most lug nuts. This particular listing, however, requires the purchase of a high-output 5.0 separately to achieve 500 ft-lbs. If you're not a brand snob, Ridgid has a cheaper, but heavier mid-torque impact for cheaper:

I used my m12 fuel with a 1/2" Hex Shank Socket driver to pull chrome lugs off two cars last month to swap to black. I only broke one of the hex shanks from harbor freight, though. To be fair, these weren't huge trucks. I'd have had to use the m18 fuel for a big truck.

I'd just buy the 169 "package" and sell the 3.0s, should be around the same net and you don't have to worry about getting dinged for returns. TBH though in years and years of doing this I've only ever gotten the impression that it's the store employees that care. HD has taken steps to make "hacks" harder, but I strongly suspect those changes were forced by Milwaukee/Dewalt etc, essentially if they wanted to end hacks completely they'd just drop the "separate line items" format completely. But this allows them to sell tools to savvy customers at a significant discount from the minimum advertised price without breaking their contracts with the big tool mfgs.
This is by far the best deal on the new 550 ft lb stubby, I'm in for one and will just sell the 3.0s and my old stubby.
