Breville is not a superautomatic like the Phillips is. Just a tap to make a drink all the way. We like ours a lot. We do have the 4300 which has a couple more drink options.

Does not break like Beeville and can find parts for this though not that much better.Id say if you like consistently good espresso in the morning, go for a superautomatic, if you want to become a home barista, get the semi auto.

I recently got the 3300 from Amazon- Like New, that said the box is damaged, but it had signs of use and would often give me errors with grinder, so it's going back.

Upon researching more, I feel like I want to get the 4400, but waiting for it to go down, may be during Thanksgiving, in the $500 range, not sure that will happen though Smilie

I have a Phillips, although I bought the 5400.... after using it for 1.5 years, I would buy a Phillips again, but I would go for this version probably. The 5400 has several more drink options, I think 13 total, it also allows for more user profiles... but to no surprise, we dont use any. When I reviewed my drink history at the 1 year mark, I had made close to 1000 shots of espresso, like 700 "coffee" drinks, and maybe 50 other drinks combined. We also do no switch profiles ever, as my wife uses the coffee button and I use the espresso button, nothing needs to change.

I love the machine for what it is, and my schedule is tight in the morning, so this fills the gap. I would also love a semi auto for weekends, but the superauto is great during the week. We were Nespresso people before, and I figure the savings from buying pods has covered the cost of the machine.

We're in the same boat, though with a 4300. Makes good (not great) espresso. We hardly use most of the drink options, just tons of espresso and cafe cremas, one for each of us every morning.

These machines do have a break in period where you need to fiddle with the grind size for your preferred beans, but once it's set, it's fairly low maintenance and is both consistent and quick. We also never change profiles at all.

Solid machine, ours has it's issues but has been mostly reliable. Highly recommend to people who don't want to feel like a barista and get a decent latte/cap. Highly recommend paired with Lavazza Super Crema beans.

Had this machine until it finally sprang an internal leak after only 3 years - water/steam got into something electrical and shorted it out. The machine tripped gfci breaker as soon as it got plugged in. It had started having issues even before that, because its 3 way solenoid valve would often stick and direct the steam/hot water that was intended to be dispensed from the sprout into an internal tray. It's a crappy product and if you want a good super-auto coffee machine get the italian-made Delonghi Dinamica Plus, I have one and it's night and day!
