Also I have these batteries from a previous deal. Here is what their Bluetooth app shows. Pretty basic but gets the job done and doesn't require BS like signing up. Didn't ask for any suspicious permissions.

The product industry is rife with such 'tests', though....create a sense of an advantage over another competing product. Consumer Reports, Wirecutter, etc. have this down to a science. Genuine enhancements and safety features should be distinguished, but docking 'points' for possible scenarios of misuse is suspect at best.

'Not gonna defend PF testing methods since they test a wide range of product types and cannot be expert in all product categories - they are what they are, perhaps better than blind buying…

But while many folks, including me know a device should be turned off before hooking it up to a charger, almost nobody turns off the device to charge a phone/tablet/laptop.

And even the most conscientious end user is not 100% perfect, so given a choice between two otherwise equivalent chargers, I'd always choose the one that has smart sensor/soft/delayed/capacitor arc protection functionality built in.

I'm wondering if this would be a good option for my 12v sump pump backup. 🤔 It uses the lead acid batteries that need to be changed about every 4-5 years.

I think the lead acid batteries will be suitable. You need them 100% charged at all times, with a good current output to run that pump immediately. The lithiums don't excel in this area. If they've done you right, I don't know this is the place to mess with change considering how costly the consequences are.

You just made me remember that Consumer Reports outright makes "Not Recommended" any pressure washer that includes a 0 degree nozzle. Since you can also hurt yourself with a circular saw, are those all CR "Not Recommended" too? Testers should just focus on how a product performs when properly used.

Thanks, that seems to be a pretty good deal for a 1200wh portable battery for just a little under $150, I think the major difference is it doesn't support 120v output, which is fine since the price is just right for most people.
