It adds some new dynamics to your ride and definitely works for what it is meant to do.

Does it add any performance benefits or anything else? In that respect it's a gimmick.
But if it makes your ride more interesting/enjoyable and encourages you to grind out another climb on Zwift then it's up to you to decide if that's valuable or not.
At this price I think it's worth it

I would say its worth it if you wanna make your rides more immersive, especially at this price
