Why say things that are just not true? Sure its not good for 4k gaming at all but at 1080P its perfectly relevant. Yes, many people still game at 1080p.
Because people don't understand reviews and watch review sites designed to sell new hardware instead of showing folks how to tweak stuff to run on existing hardware.

A YT reviewer gets paid to slow down a video and circle a part of the screen, then forward and reverse and then say.....did you notice that? Well unless you spend 40%-50% more on your graphics card to go from 8gb to 16gb or you will need to turn that setting off that you can't even notice during actual game play. If each individual leaf on that tree i ran by in 2 seconds does not cast its own shadow....i just dont see the point of playing the game...rotfl...Most of these posters are either folks who have never played this game....or dont live within a budget.

Review Sites make reviews interesting by pushing boundaries and showing benchmarks.
It would be boring if they showed folks playing a game with imperceptible differences.

Sure...The more you spend the better the card and there are some benefits....
But the concept that a 5060 8GB card cannot be an acceptable entry level gaming card is just absurd.

8gb… makes this instantly irrelevant.
While I dislike 8GB for future proofing, if all you play is Fortnite or Valorant and things like that this card is going to perform very well. If you play things like Indiana Jones or Balck Myth Wukong this will be very inadequate and basically unplayable.

Ahhh yes, the usual dweller who doesn't understand category of product segment, but feels the need to comment because all the YouTubers told him as such.

At $225 this card now has my full recommendation.... This is the best upgrade card available for an older pcie 3.0 system still mostly capable of 1080p ultra and 1440p medium with the next best card $120 away. Understand that 8 gb vram has limitations, but at $225 you are so far away from your next best option you aren't wrong to choose it.

I just call them influenreviewers now because they just all get on the same bandwagon and push a narrative and everyone buys into it because it's all over. Like you said, they don't really go into any of that. The expectation that an entry level card needs to be able to run current gen AAA titles at high settings, high resolution is crazy and that's what they all do to intentionally place irrelevant bottle necks to sell their more vram argument. "Ohhhh if only had 16gb, this card would run this game 240fps, 4K Ultra! And now it can't because it's got only 8GB". Then you have people arguing "I just bought a new card, I should be able to run new games on High setting!" Uhhh I just got a new civic, you don't see me out there looking for Ferraris to race lol.

Even on those more demanding games this card will be perfectly useable if you are willing to turn the graphics down to high or medium. RandomGamingInHD on youtube got a steady 60 fps when running Wukong at 1440p, medium settings, using this card, for example. Yes, it is not as good as the 16 GB version, but the cheapest one of those I can find right now is $370, that is enough of a price difference that I can perfectly understand someone on a budget going with the 8 GB card.

If the YouTube influencers you're thinking of are Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed, while they have crapped on 8 GB thoroughly, they haven't said that it shouldn't exist. They've said something along the lines of 8 GB shouldn't cost more than $300 (5060 Ti 8GB came in at a $379 MSRP), and that ideally it should be closer to $200, which this price definitely is. They are also not trying to sell you new hardware because they have harshly criticized GPUs at all price tiers. If you want to be very uncharitable, you can say they're selling outrage, but there's truth in the 8 GB criticisms.

You do not have to work hard to find scenarios where 8 GB suffers from poor performance at 1080p in newer games. Not just 4K or 1440p, but 1080p. Since we have multiple cards that are virtually identical except for the memory capacity, it's very easy to test and see huge drops in average framerates and 1% lows. This will certainly get worse in the coming years. The next generation could see Nvidia, AMD, and Intel all putting 12 GB GDDR7 on 128-bit cards, providing a cheaper alternative to 16 GB clamshell 128-bit cards, but enough VRAM for 1080p.

You are definitely getting hosed when a fundamentally powerful card like the 9060 XT, 5060 Ti, 3070, etc. gets 8 GB, since the additional VRAM can instantly make 1440p/4K viable in some games. Because to get to that "Ferrari" level, costs the manufacturer maybe an additional $20-30. Certainly a lot less than the crazy gap seen here ($224 8 GB vs. ~$370 16 GB). So the guy praying for a $275 9060 XT 16GB is onto something, although that isn't happening anytime soon.

Obviously, 8 GB can still be fine for many people, and that includes playing new games, not just old ones. You can tinker with settings, lower texture quality, and make it work better. This is a good price for a fast 8 GB card, and currently the cheapest way on the planet to get access to FSR4.

For $225, this a fantastic budget gaming PC option. I'd love to see the 16GB version for $300, but that's kind of a pipe dream right now, and I'd settle for MSRP. Seeing anything below MSRP is a beacon of hope these days.

In Techspot's recent review this card was basically twice as fast as the RX 6600.

Ok heres is the hottest take you will ever see. If you are going to make a modern card thats only 8Gb you need to also make it low-profile and powered via pcie.

Too bad Houston store is out.
Wanting to upgrade CPU and GPU while staying on AM4 (I have a 2600x and 1060 6 gig currently). Current system does most of what I need, but getting long in tooth so figure a cheap upgrade could give me a few more years.
Looking at something like a Ryzen 5 3600 or 5500 for CPU, and this would have been a great match for it I think. Have been looking at the B580, but would rather an AMD or Nvidia card.
