Is there a benefit to upgrading from a Gen 1 system?

Ring increased monthly subscription prices heavily. Better go for free and self storage ones. Once you buy this and end up paying subscription for ever.

yep, opted out of running wired cameraz when we built our house a few years ago to use ring cams. It's a headache but I'm currently deciding on which brand/ecosystem to wire up/local data storage my security. I hate endless subscriptions and this one is neverending and has the gradual price increases.

$20 a month for professional monitoring with cellular backup is hard to beat.I believe Simplisafe is around $20 or more for their lowest cost professional monitoring plan.I wouldn't go with Wyze Professional Monitoring as it doesn't have any cellular backup option.

There are few which supports local storage. Check eufy comes with local storage and they have nice solar wireless cameras. SimpliSafe is another one you can do self monitoring without subscription.

It was $10 and now $20 so they keep on increase. The main purpose of such devices are for self control no point of paying heavy on subscriptions. And ring doesn't support self storage option.

These are compatible with any z-wave hub. Also this is the cheapest option I found with professional monitoring.

Setting aside the need for a subscription to use most Ring Camera features, I buy a security system with the intent of professional monitoring that will work during power outages and internet outages. Is there's a cheaper professional monitoring security system subscription with battery and cellular backup, please let us know.Plus, if you only need self monitoring of the security system (not the cameras), you only need to pay a $10 a month subscription if you want cellular backup with no professional monitoring.

Just keep in mind Ring will give your footage to authorities without a warrant. For some, that's a deal breaker, while others don't care as much about privacy

Ring also has a flaw on not able to find your video got posted to neighbors. long time back my kid posted one clip and being criticized by neighbors and I totally not aware this, till one of Ring marketing people reaching me for using it for their marketing promotion. I declined and deleted it. But from searching, it turns out you will not know if your kids accidentally shared any of your clip and there is no such feature through app or site to find if clip got shared

Exactly this. It's still pretty cheap for professional monitoring. Other professional monitoring systems in my area cost $40-60/month. Also, you do not need this kit nor do you need the $20 plan if you're just looking for cameras.

Ring cameras don't have the ability to use cellular backup by itself. It is unable to use the regular Ring Alarm base System's cellular backup to record clips to the cloud. It may be able to use the Ring Alarm Pro's base station backup internet if the camera is connected to the base station's built in Router and you are subscribed to the Premium Plan ($19.99 a month before the professional monitoring add on).The regular Ring Alarm Security System base station can use cellular backup with a standard plan ($9.99 a month), with or without the professional monitoring add on (an additional $10 a month).https://ring.com/plans Both Ring Alarm base systems (regular or Pro) has built in battery backup and should last long enough during most blackouts.

Are there self-storage options that auto-upload to the cloud for backup and easy reuse? because any serial home invader/thief is going to look for that self-storage box and destroy or take it. or just wear a mask.

never ending subscription suck, but really need to compare apples to apples, including setup-ease, cost of hardware, annual costs, time spent on the hardware/setup, storage on and offsite, feature set etc.
