At 1399, the next config up, you get Ryzen AI 9 and the 890M Radeon over the IA 7 and 860M. Not too shabby for 60 more bucks.

I do want a Thinkpad but I bought a different laptop last year. Thinkpads with good graphics are fairly limited.

I see two main problems with this laptop. The MediaTek WiFI. Intel is surprisingly king here. Given that its a Thinkpad, its likely not solder to the board. The second which isn't unique to this series of Thinkpads is the tiny battery.

Intel Wifi 7 chips cannot run on an AMD cpu. They literally put something in the CPU that is needed for wifi 7 chips to work. There is a qualcomm wifi 7 chip you can get - some are soldered onto the mobo.

Battery should be 50% bigger in these models. I'll never understand why Lenovo does this.

I guess it is a trade off for portability. Currently a large power bank with 20000 mah or above with 100w output can be easily bought below $50. So I would buy a large power Bank in my bag if I need carry it around instead put more weight on it

If you use an employee benefit portal, it can come down to $1,279. /r/suggestalaptop has been promoting the ticketatworks VIP portal which doesn't require any verification.
