Is this good for use in a portable NVME enclosure?I always see people talk about heatsinks and so I'm asking if that applies at all to portable storage.

Umm yes and no. Depends on what and how you're using it. So I used to have an external drive and since just installed it back into my pc but I used it to transfer data back and forth between my desktop and laptop. And the 10gb speed definitely caused it to heat up faster than the 5GB usb speed, the one I used didn't have a heat sink enclosure but I rarely spent a lot of time transferring anything above 10gb. Now if you're using it as long term storage always connected, like a Mac mini, I would 100% consider something that has a heat sink.

I think instead of also posting the price of the previous deal, the staff should instead post the lowest ever price for that deal. More honest that way.

Would not want to buy something that has been once sold for cheaper.

Would it be cheaper for something like Lexar 1TB SL300 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD without a lot of hassle? Those whom lucky enough got 1T version from Costco clearing $29.97 few months ago.

Yes I'm using the 2tb as my secondary game drive on my pc. Games don't really benefit from speeds this high but they will load quickly.

I am using the 2TB model of this SSD with a $7 heatsink (bought separately from Amazon) and the combo works great. This ssd read speed is around 6800 for PS5 irrespective of the "upto speed" they show on the package.

Just this morning I was shopping for NVME's and came across this one. I ended up getting the 1TB SN770 from Walmart [walmart.com] instead for $5 more. The SN770 uses TLC memory and has a higher TBW of 600TB vs 220TB on the p310.

Not sure what the real-world speed differences are but according to what i've read, unless you're constantly transferring very large files, any speed difference in most of the modern NVME's will not be noticeable in gaming or general usage.

This model, like a lot of other ones on here recently, doesn't have DRAM. For most people, it won't matter. Just be aware of what you're buying, and do your own research. This whole "DRAM less" SSD thing caught me by surprise when I was looking for a drive a few months back. For some use cases there can be a very significant performance hit. I have one of these drives in a mini pc and day-to-day use I don't notice any downsides. However, if I copy a large 5GB file from an external USB drive to it, the transfer speed starts at 250MB/s but then settles in at around 50MB/s. If I was doing a lot of this, I would be confused why I'm not getting "SSD performance" from an SSD.
