With all of these AI use cases coming out, I'd opt for 128GB of RAM if I were on a DDR5 platform. 4 sticks on consumer CPU's just doesn't work with DDR5, it often downclocks your speed severely (AMD or Intel). Your effectively limited to 2 sticks at full speed.

I want to agree at least about the quality. Performance is just so-so if you're a pc enthusiast or gamer. I didn't even realize they still made CL40s. You're better off buying a 32GB kit with a lower CL unless you have an actual need for 64GB of RAM.

Honest question - how much does RAM speed make an impact from a day to day standpoint?

6000MHz CL40 is very slow. For comparison that's equivalent to 4800MHz CL32. For DDR5 6000 CL30/CL32 is the sweet spot.

Just built a new machine in the past two weeks. Fastest 2x64 kits I could find were G.Skill CL34.

How so? Even for 2 identical pairs?

Not much. It's more about squeezing out every last frame of performance when gaming.

Yeah, unfortunately. Most motherboards can't handle all 4 DIMMs being slotted well at all (will reduce speed to 4800 or 5200MT/s), especially if they're dual rank sticks. Just a limit of the memory controllers - definitely on B[XXX] boards, but even some X870 and X870E boards are similarly picky.

It is definitely the case on z690 12700k. I have 4x16 sticks of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 that should go up to 5600, but anything higher than 4800 or 5200 causes stability issues, mostly BSOD. It is the main reason there were no high performance 4 sticks kits at least 2 years ago when I built it, I bought 2 identical kits instead. And some MOBO's intended for extreme overclocking (like EVGA Kingpin) don't even have 4 memory slots.
