same performance as 3090, 5% better than 4070s, and 16% better than 6800xt? I didn't know the market was that bad. Guess I'll stick with my 6800xt for a few more years

Interesting. First time seeing the 5080s available like this. The Super cards must be around the corner.

The 9070xt in Doom slaps this monkey (5080) for $400 less

Is it worth the extra 450 for the 4GB of RAM? I know everyone recommends 16, but thats almost double the price.
Do you think an extra couple of inch wouldve helped? If yes 4gb is well worth it

Dont live with regrets ..

The Supers are coming soon and getting a VRAM boost. I think Nvidia has shifted their tiers down an entire level meaning the 5070/12GB is actually more like a 5060 and the 5080 more like a 5070, and currently no card in their lineup spec wise that fits what a 5080 should be. If you think about it that way these cards are completely overpriced ATM until they make some changes. A 5080 w/ 24GB is the bare minimum to be called a 5080 in this generation. Running out of VRAM playing 4K on a "5070" is unacceptable IMO. Avoid the 5070 definitely, 5080/16GB is at least a good card but just a bit overpriced.
Agreed on all front. The fact MSI accidentally released early promotion packaging showing 24GB on the RTX 5080 just adds how greedy Nvidia is:

Not to mention the fact Nvidia had to "unlaunch" the RTX 4080 12GB model after backlash from users when they tried to sell it using the same name as the RTX 4080 16GB which was a completely different core and memory count.

I bought the PNY 5070ti for $750 at BB over the weekend during tax-free holiday. But would really like greater than 16gb for AI. But, could be waiting until December or later. Boo.

Happened to me too. In my case, my credit card company was declining the transaction due to a fraud alert. I had to call to allow them to charge the card.

Rumor has it the the 5070 and 5080s are going to get price cuts and the SUPER series of them will take over their current MSRP value.
Gpus inventory increasing, nv selling fe cards, nvme storage back down to prices seen over a year ago.

Are enterprises buying less, leading to chips being slotted for the consumer market?

Enterprise buying has never been higher.
Consumers are buying fewer non-necessities (like GPUs) because they're being squeezed hard by rapidly increasing prices on everything else.

NVDA up 70% from April, keep building and buying the cards! 1:1 ratio of stock to the GPU you buy 👍

still no 5090. The 5080 is showing in stock again. It had gone out earlier.

On July 29th. I saw it pop up in stock on the Shop my Exchange website.
But by the time I got my dad's info to reset his account and log into the site it was sold out again.
Then I saw it pop up another time in the middle of the night at like 3 or 4 AM Central Time.
Logged in. Was able to add it to my cart. But then as I was adding payment info and shipping address it went out of stock again. And haven't seen the 5090 FE at MSRP again ever since. BestBuy haven't seen restock since late May. according to NowInstock.net's tracker. and missed 2 restocks in April and another in earlier May as well. But wasn't really looking at the time. But my PC broke after 8 years recently. Had shut it down to clean my desk. Flipped the switch on the power supply. unplugged it. temporarily moved it to the floor. wiped down my desk. moved the PC back to my desk. plugged it in. flipped the switch. and when i went to turn it on. It wouldn't post. the VGA Debug Light stays on the motherboard.

This is my first time seeing the 5080 FE in stock anywhere. Saw the PNY 5080 at BestBuy for pickup.

It's not about the super cards. It's the market, more specifically, the supply and demand. Either Nvidia shifts productivity from AI chips to those gaming chips, or consumers stop buying all those chips. Here's when the market starts crashing, not only the chip market, but also the market of everything, including our job market. Very soon, you will find you still can't afford these chips at their original MSRP.

ok I guess I'll keep my 3080ti then, even though the price is nice

Bro I saw the price and the first part of the title and thought 5080 FEs were selling for $550 and was about to buy a couple 😆.
