Need a small amount of reliable storage

I just need to reliably back up like 20GB. Looks like with external drives, 1TB is the smallest you can get now. Can someone recommend a reliable one?

Reliable is always fleeting if you want reliable put it on a spinning drive if you want to put the drive in a drawer, I would take 2 drives store one at another location like relatives house, then store the information in the cloud somewhere, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, or Apple.
Thumb drive too just for an extra layer. For 20 GB you could stick it on your phone if it is backed up.

Do you have any recommendations for a reliable external HDD?

Or a reliable thumb drive? Maybe I'll just use two thumb drives instead. And I'm thinking one with USB-C to also use with my phone would be good too, though not a must and reliability is more important. I could always buy an adapter.

Just my opinion but at the capacity you're talking about (GB, not TB), if reliability is your biggest concern I would suggest that you just create multiple backups rather than worry about brand-reliability.

Stick with the major brands, buy 3 or 4 drives, backup to each one. Heck, for only 20GB you could make dozens of backups for very little investment...

I also agree with komondor, if the data is important, make sure you have backups in multiple locations in case of a catastrophe. I have copies of all of my family videos and pictures, etc. in multiple locations. Hopefully it's overkill but you never know...

You could buy an M-DISC BD-R drive. I've used these for long term backups.

Unlike traditional recordable DVD/CDs that have a dye layer that isn't reliable long term, M-DISC claim to be more durable (the newer ones may not be quite as good).
