Normally I agree with you, but I believe Exedy is an OEM supplier for Mazda.

I agree, it's OEM and has plenty of torque capacity to handle a stock 1.8L engine. Also, a nice upgrade for the 1.6L engine. You just need to switch to the 1.8L flywheel at the same time when using this clutch. New flywheels are so cheap, it's not worth having your used flywheel resurfaced.

This clutch kit is inexpensive but not cheap. I wouldn't, t wouldn't use a cheap no name eBay clutch either. Exedy is a good brand and is the original factory equipment.

It's a popular car and for good reason.

Cheap on gas and maintenance, easy to tune and modify. Not to mention the LS1 swaps.

It's also not unheard of for people to just barely be reaching the point where they need a new clutch, with how light the car is.

Every project car shot up during COVID, but the NA MX5 was seeing a spike even before that.

I put this exact clutch kit on my '97 STO. Worked great through tons of hard miles and weekend SCCA thrashing. Great to see this deal come up.
