I got this one as the Midea brand is rated higher than Hisense. That said, I miss the shorter inside part of the Hisense AC units, this Midea looks huge in comparison

Most importantly the shorter inside part makes the blower fan easily visible to check for mold and cleaning

No. The old model simply didn't have the drain hole what accommodates the pitch. The water sits in the a/c and mold would grow. Costco and home depot contacted every purchaser of the mileage products (including me) for full refund from midea, or have the hole installed. The new units have the drain-hole predrilled.
I own 4 of these for my house (old NYC house) and they're great, quiet and goes into fan/recirculation move to hold the temperature instead of fully turning on and off (short cycling). Easy enough to take on and off.

They're not really designed to be installed in slider windows. They can't be installed sideways so that the window closes into the "U". You can set it in the window opening, but you won't be able to close the window so there would be a huge gap above the unit. I suppose you could block the gap with a block of Styrofoam or some other rigid insulating material, but it would look unsightly.
