Wife uses them for fake candles, I use them for Xbox controller, kids toys, tv remote, etc and have only had 1 battery die. What's the problem?

People have very mixed experience with Amazon rechargeables.

Personally, I've had good experience with the regular-capacity rechargeables, but these high-capacity ones have given me problems. Additionally, they're too wide to fit in a few of my devices, or will get stuck inside of them.

I personally recommend sticking with the regular capacity IF there are on sale and somebody wants to roll the dice, or just buying a different brand.

My issue is that 3/4th of them were bad after a couple of charges when I bought them. I agree with the other posters. These are garbage.

You're basically gambling. Maybe you got a good batch. I've had awful luck with em.

I bought these awhile back for my Mr beams motion lights and they just don't hold a decent charge after less than a year of use. I wouldn't recommend these.

Agree with other posters that have had poor experiences. I've purchased these in both AA and AAA, using for the past year or so in various applications, including flash lights and kids toys. These have poor shelf life and inconsistent/short run times compared with Eneloops. I have eneloops that are in some cases going on nearly ten years old and they still hold a charge longer than my much newer Amazon basics. I was tempted by the lower price. They're just not worth it in my experience. Pay up for a better product, eneloop or otherwise.

thanks for this input. Batteries are not so expensive that they're worth rolling the dice for. I'll stick with the popular brands

Yes. I use for Xbox Controller. They've been fine for years. Yes there are more expensive ones that will hold voltage better, but definitely not close to this price.
Also don't let anybody lie to you these Amazon basic rechargeables are infinitely better than anything you can buy at an American store and by that I mean better than rayovac better than Duracell better than Energizer as far as rechargeables lasting a while.

I've had more popular name brand sold at stores in America type of rechargeable batteries go through thermal runaway and bulge therefore making them not good I haven't had a set destroy one of my battery chargers.
I highly recommend you do not buy the name brand stuff that we're all familiar with.
These Amazon basics actually work better and they have vents on the top.

Eneloops are also like 4x the price of these...
I've had double A and triple A Amazon basic rechargeables and they've been good for 4 years and counting now...
