Short story is that I haven't had to cut lawn for past ~5 years as my son has been cutting ours but he is heading to college. He sold his mower so I needed to pick one up but not sure if I want to go riding or even electric. Saw this Yard Force 21" Self-Propelled RWD Walk Behind Mower on Clearance at our local Sam's Club and picked it up. They had about 8 of them. Shipping is list price but instore or Pickup is showing $216.03

https://www.samsclub.com/ip/Yard-...3869459965

This is where I got mine from and they 8 or so more:
Pineville Sam's Club
1425 Carolina Place Pkwy
Pineville, NC 28134

I used for the first time this weekend, it works as expected. Started right up, I used the bagger and the highest setting as lawn had gotten a little long and it was fine. Lots of reviews on YouTube if you search on YF22-3N1SPVS-SC. Reviews all over the place, does have a lot of plastic parts that may not last forever but so far it has been a good purchase. When I was looking for mowers with similar specs (Gas or Electric), they were easily close to $400 so this at almost 1/2 of that is a steal.

BS engine, what's not to like.
Deck might rust out, so hose underneath and dry out in sun.
Use stabil in your fuel to stop lines rotting and clogged carburetor.
Use 5W 30 synthetic oil, for easy starts and smooth running engine.
I also add in a teaspoon or few drops of techron to keep carburetor clog free.
This small engine spins fast which is perfect for mulching grass.
Here in the great state of Texas we ain't be bagging grass, it withers away by next day
BS is a good engine provided additives are used every use.

Bought this last year at a clearance price, it was so cheepy I returned it right away. Probably fine if you have a small yard, but the bs engine is was not enough to convince me to keep it.

Definitely not a commercial mower, lot's of plastic parts but I think that is where everything is heading unless you drop significantly more money down. Granted I have only cut my lawn once with this (and bagged) and it seemed good enough. The B&S engine is pretty stout and doesn't get bogged down by tall/wet grass. Does have a steel deck that seems pretty durable but the plastic pulleys that drive the self-propel function do worry me but not enough to not keep it. If I get a couple years out of it I'm happy.
Figured if I get 4-5 cuts it has paid for itself versus hiring a lawn company at $40-50 a pop....

We have had ours for a year and can confirm that our propel has stopped working. To be fair I haven't look into why because the kids use it and they can use some struggle in their lives

Bought one 3 years ago. Still going strong mowing up and down hills using the self propel to pull the mower up. I was worried the plastic gears would have worn out a long time ago, guess I got a good one. Picked one up 8/8 for $208 at my local Sam's for a family member.

empower them to work on it. If they can mow, they can use the internet to help diagnose the issue and will have motive and the satisfaction of (more than likely) adjusting or replacing a cable. in this throwaway world it would be valuable. I would also talk about the potential of repairing it being cost prohibit before starting to manage expectations.

The plastic gears wore out soon. The worst thing is that no part is available in the market.
