Does match the FP deal from earlier this month at Newegg/Amazon though.

Def not even on the higher end of the gen 5 ssds tbh but it would probably be a decent drive to throw in a tb4/usb4 (or other usb/tb) enclosure....
A lot of motherboards only can accomodate one full speed gen 5 NVME + 16 lanes for the gpu at the same time and the rest are gen 4 speeds so i really don't see any other use for it imo ... If i'm gonna blow a bunch of money on a gen 5 NVME drive i might as well get
I mean the 2TB 9100 pro from samsung is 189 at best buy rn... i realize that's quite a bit more money but it has dram and 14700 megabytes per second read speed (and the write speeds aren't far behind)
Just a situation where your'e already spending a lot of money for something so it seems light you're throwing it in the trash if you don't get the good one imo ..

I also agree that gen 5 drives aren't going to benefit most people .... I edit video daily ... both of the workstations in front of me have 9950x3d/128GB DDR5 6000/RTX5090/ etc
They are gross overkill for 99% of the population

All that said, I would just go straight for a WD SN850X or a Samsung 990 Pro.
