YES it is good for security cameras and dashcams, despite what people parrot who keep saying "no you should ONLY use a high endurance card". I've been using the 128GB model of this card in my 2x DOD LS460W dashcams for up to 6 years, recording an average of 4 days per week in extremely hot Vegas weather, with no problems. I also use this exact card in my Vantrue N4, N4 Pro, and E1 dashcams for between 1-4 years with no problems. It is probably true that the endurance cards can be written to a relatively small percentage more times than these before experiencing sector failures, but these regular cards can still be written to many many times without a problem as I've proven with multiple cards in multiple dashcams in some of the hottest weather in the U.S over the lifetime of quite a few dashcams and more than 6 years of regular use for some of them.

LS460W bitrate about 15 Mbps, 4 days per 7 days, lets say 2 hours each day. That's 832 hours or about 3 million seconds, so total written about 45 million Mb, or 5.6 million MB, or 5,600 GB, or 5.6 TB. For a 128GB card, you've only written over it about 50 times per year. That is pretty light usage.

Some high-end dash cams push 60 Mbps and some people drive 50+ hours a week. Thats when you really need endurance cards. Parking mode would make this many times higher too.

I think 512 is too big, most dashcams are only up to 256

Depends on the dashcam. Cheap dashcams can only use 64GB or 128GB max, many midrange and high-ish end dashcams use 256GB max, many high-end dashcams use 512GB max such as my $300 Vantrue N4 Pro, and the realy high end dashcams often use 512GB or 1TB max, but so does my cheaper $130 Vantrue E1 4K which accepts a 1TB card. Even if the card is larger than the dashcam will accept, you can just format the card to any smaller size you want to trick the dashcam into thinking it is a smaller size card. Then when you're done using it for that task, reformat it back to full size which only takes a couple minutes.

You still don't NEED a high endurance card even if you're a long haul trucker driving across the country 7 days a week. A high endurance card may last something like 20% greater write cycles than a regular card, but it also costs about 20% more so you're getting about the same write cycles per dollar either way. You'd just have to replace your regular card slightly more often vs a high endurance card. Remember, the original question was "is this good for a dashcam or continuously recording indoor security camera" and the answer is YES. It just won't last quite as long as a high endurance card will, but either one still lasts a long time.

Thank you for providing really useful info. One of most helpful post I ever come across on this site.
I was debating if I should get this given how great the deal is, now I can be sure that it can be used for dashcam.

Keep up the good work!
