I did put that in the OP. Based on the one I have and the comments from the last deal, I don't think there is any difference performance-wise. I don't have the "non PVT" one to compare it to, but it's seems to be performing as it should.

I bought one of these the last time it was posted. Mine has been appearing to perform well. I'm not a professional tester or anything, so I can't comment on the true efficiency of it but it has dried a lot of rolls so far and has worked solidly. I am happy I bought it.

That is for drying the filament before printing. You need to buy 2d printer separately, some printers like BambuLab has AMS 2 which includes dryer.

I bought one of these on the last deal and have dried dozens of filaments. I think it works very well. It may need a firmware update but I haven't gone to the trouble of doing that yet. I did accidentally dry PLA at the PETG temp because I set it for PLA and then I guess I needed to press the action button to have it adjust temp for filament type.

The firmware update mentioned in the manual is from April or May. Mine was up to date last month when I got it. It's been working great for me! Definitely a requirement with 3D printing.

Depends on the 3D printer you get. Assuming you're into FDM/FFF (since you're looking at a filament dryer), you could go up to 800x800x1000 mm with the Elegoo OrangeStorm Giga. If you wanted something slightly more exotic, you could try a belt-style printer that prints on a treadmill for "unlimited" length in 1 dimension (practically limited by your workspace). Or skip plastic, get yourself a concrete printer, and build yourself a house. Go big or go home, right?

I picked up a non-prototype one for $112 after coupon w/ free shipping on AliExpress yesterday but looks like that price is gone now. eBay would be a better vendor to buy from, but if the prototype thing bothers you then you may find it on AliExpress for similar price if you keep looking.
