Really good AP, you don't need to set up a management box like Unifi, and it is all Cloud-based. Might be good to use indoor as well, and for legacy 2.4G devices only, so your high-end AP for Wifi 7 can go faster. Only downside is it is Wifi 6 and not 6E.
Does this require any licensing? Or, are there any required support costs to keep managing it through the mist cloud?
Yes, 100/AP/yr for Mist AI service, BUT if you don't renew the system stays online. You just lose access to the mgmt console. I've installed a lot of these, they're excellent

Thanks. I'm aware that these are excellent enterprise APs but $100/yr/each to manage for home use is a deal breaker for me. Good deal on the hardware though.

Bear in mind this may all change shortly… Aruba just acquired Juniper, likely to integrate their AI and innovative software into their already established products. I'm guessing this is why normally $2000+ APs are on Woot for less than a last gen UniFi AP. The licensing will likely change once Aruba fully takes over.

so there is no way to use this ap for home use without forking out the cash?

You can also buy a lifetime license for the access point here, which should be grandfathered for the life of the access point. https://www.cdw.com/product/junip...me/7847073
Or Like the OP said, you can buy the 1 year one for $100 and never touch the management settings once the initial setup is complete. The access point will stay online even if you don't renew after 1 year.
All cloud based access points require licenses from Juniper, Cisco, HPE etc.

Is the only difference between this one and the AP33 is that this one is outdoor/weatherproof?
