Over the past few years, I have noticed that there is never a better time to buy a "used" PS5 than a little bit after Best Buy is selling new units with a bundled game or Fortnite crap. They still don't assign the redemption code to the particular console like Microsoft did with the Diablo IV pack in.
TL;DR - If you live an area with a high volume of scammers, the units have never even been touched. The plastic strip is still wrapped around the console. The cable ties haven't been touched. The controller doesn't have a single finger print on it. They just buy these units to fence the redemption code on Craigslist or eBay, and return the unit. Best Buy doesn't check anything, so they then have to sell the unit as "like new" (it's literally brand new) at a substantial discount. I got a digital slim for $319.99 in February. After sending them an email about using the wrong stock photo which indicated there should have been a redemption card in the box, they sent me a $20 gift certificate. That makes $299.99 for a brand new PS5. You'll want the disc drive eventually, but you save way more than you pay for it because even during sales PSN never really matches Amazon, Best Buy, or Walmart.
