If you are looking at a sub $300 prebuilt for playing current games, you might have unrealistic expectations.

I think it's very hot.
don't buy it if you want to do a lot of video editing or play games, but for basic uses, this is plenty fast.

Agreed. This one offers 3+ times the performance of an N150 mini. It's previous gen AM4 but includes a lot for less than $300, including USB-C and dual storage drives. Would make an excellent office workhorse, especially for anyone who wants to dodge the Windows 10 end of support in October.

HP has a nasty habit of using proprietary power connectors

This pC is TERRIBLE for gaming with current games. You cannot upgrade the power supply or add a decent gpu. It's a bunch of proprietary garbage. For normal everyday tasks it's great though. It's a definite pass for me.

Any idea how many 3.5" internal bays this case supports?

Would jump on this if PSU was easy to replace.

Price is decent for the parts.... but everything is proprietary on it. Maybe a good plex server with a GTX 1050 or something or light duty desktop. Most definitely not for gaming.

this is a good deal for a general purpose computer. Pretty much the only thing it's not great for is high-end gaming. Due to the lack of a power-hungry GPU and the things required to upgrade to that.

Most of the big boys ( HP, Dell, Apple, Lenovo, ect...) use proprietary motherboards and power supplies. But most other components like the CPU, Ram, disc, anything that goes into a PCI slot like a video card are all standard and can be swapped out or upgraded.

This computer would be able to support any of the pcie bus powered graphics cards. Once that do not require an external power connector.

Why a Ryzen mini PC over this? Also, the description isn't clear as to whether it's a single 12GB stick of DIMM or an 8 and 4 (ie not dual channel)

I think Prycedin eBay store may be HP outlet, they have some great deals on HP products from time to time. Last year around this time I purchased an HP OMEN 25L Core i5-10400 16GB DDR4 1TB NVMe and 3060ti with 2-Year Allstate warranty for $400. The system arrived in new condition with some months left on HP warranty.
