Would it be better for a noob at RE games to pick this up or pick up the Raccoon City Edition (RE2 and 3)? I tried this in the past when you couldn't walk and shoot and wasn't crazy about it but it looks like you can now?

I heard they got rid of some memorable lines, but it seems most people who played the original like the remake for the improved graphics and gameplay. You should give it a try. I played the original 4 so many times, I got bored after the cabin in the remake and didn't touch it again. Personally I think RE1 remake is the best remake and will speedrun Jill a couple times a year.

I would recommend RE2 remake and see if it's up your alley before trying 3 and 4. You should probably skip 3 though and go straight to 4. I don't think 3 makes any sense for noobs who don't know the lore since 3 is the main character's second game in the series storywise.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Fantastic remake, but I beat the original 4 so many times on the hardest difficulty that the remake just couldn't keep me engaged enough.
