Sony really messed up by not offering a $10 upgrade path to people who claimed it when it was a PS+ title. I would've happily gave them $10 for a digital copy. Either way this game is great, but I highly doubt well ever get a sequel.

Its FREE upgrade for ALL PC owners of Days Gone as I got mine. Greedy console companies would not want to do this free for existing owners.

This is not totally true. You can upgrade if you have the PS4 physical disc or bought it digitally. You cannot upgrade if you have the PS4 digital version from PS Plus. They offered the digital game for PS Plus members on April 2021 and decided that they wouldn't offer digital upgrades for anyone that got it for free.

That seems fair to me but I see why it would piss PS Plus subscribers off a bit.

I was wrong. As long as you didn't get it for free from PS Plus both physical and digital should have the option for $10 to upgrade.

Thanks for clarifying. It's been a while since I looked into this. I originally bought a physical PS4 copy prior to redeeming the free PS+ offer. This game doesn't seem like it's getting a physical release so I'd have to pay more if I wanted to get a true digital copy that's tethered to my PS4 disc. It's weird how Sony went through so much effort to piss off PS+ subscribers. Lastly we know the digital copy of Days Gone (PS4) won't go on a deep discount so you can buy it and upgrade for $10. I haven't seen it dip lower than $20 since Sony announced the PS5 Remaster.
