I picked up one of these a few months ago from another site with the intention of using to fill the tank on my riding mower from a gas can sitting on the ground.

This pump has no lifting capacity. Couldn't get it to move any gas unless the can was sitting on top of the lower mower. It's basically a battery powered siphon. Not worth it.

In for one. I already have one similar but doesn't have the nozzle control and has a very short output hose. Making it difficult to use on transferring 5 gals jugs of gas to my boat. To make it work I have to use a long funnel. At half the price, I think the longer output hose will be a great improvement.

JUNK! Similar thing from harbor freight that's 1/2 of this price. Same junk that just doesn't work. Of course I can't return it because it just couldn't pump the gas i need out from a container.

I have the Harbor Freight [harborfreight.com] version and I've used it to fill my riding mower, push string timer and diesel tractor probably a 1/2 dozen times so far.

I like it because it allowes me to pump the fuel out of my mowers fuel tanks so I don't have to worry about the fuel going bad.

Crazy idea. Pick up the can and pour into the lawn mower.

$6.29 for ITC members seems like a great price! Wish I could run it on rechargeable batteries or like a USB power pack. I have plenty of rechargeable AAs.

Could I use this to pump acetone? Would it degrade the plastic at all or contaminate my acetone?

Acetone would be a none starter. Glass or metal are the only things which will resist it.

No auto shutoff preventing overfill or static discharge considerations? Just doesn't seem safe.

I use the HF version to transfer fuel to my boat. I wonder the same thing about safety but it is a lot easier and a hand pump.
