Not a UPS... it's a "generator".

Is it normal to hear crackling? Not loud but when charging or using I hear a small crackle. Bought mine refurbished and gives me some concern

I've been looking at a portable power station to take camping/having as a power backup for my ups for my network, is this worth getting or waiting?

If you're frying bacon, yes. If it involves electricity, hell no.

No older river 2's are not fast enough switch over for reliable UPS nor do they claim to be as they say EPS 30ms

Need newer river 3 plus for <10ms

a known thing with ecoflow's river 2 series
lower quality components to meet the price point

Curious about this as well since that would be a much cheaper option than buying an online UPS (my UPS's stop taking power when our generator kicks in because the voltage is too dirty)

Don;t know what type of networking equipment you have but for the average person its more than fine. Most networking equipment other than a NAS doesn't take a shit when they go off suddenly. it will come back up and depending on what you have connected last hours.

I do this with the 256Wh version of this series and it's worked well during extended power failures for our modest home networking equipment. (Cable modem, Unifi access point, SFF desktop running OPNSense.) I think we got 6-8 hours from the 256Wh then another couple hours from the Back-UPS Pro 1350S.
