I got this a while back. I use it as a "dumb" air filter. You do not need to turn on wifi - just use those "dumb
buttons" on top. No complaints.

App users complained about required permissions.

These are junk. No idea why they're so highly rated - probably because they do initially pick up some dust before they stop properly filtering.
I had its predecessor (the 'vista 200') - they just use a cheap little PC fan which really aren't capable of the kind of static pressure you need to pull air through a HEPA filter, particularly once it has picked up some dust. After that, it's pretty much useless as most of the air bypasses the fan blades instead of being pulled through the filter.

If you want real air purification, get a proper air purifier with a squirrel cage blower fan and a flat filter, which won't stop filtering properly after the filter has picked up a little dust. For example, https://www.amazon.com/5510-Purif...B0DT4F8T4L (note: this is just one I'm personally familiar with, there are other options out there like this from Levoit and others)
Don't waste your money on this. It's basically only good for white noise.

We have a large whole-house air purifier, but we have this and two of the predecessors (mentioned above, the Vista 200) in our kids' rooms. They've been very helpful at removing dust and larger particulates out of the air as little point-of-use systems. Concerning clogging, we've had mixed results. It's mostly not been an issue because we change filters at regular intervals, however, when we used hard tap water in our humidifiers we DID see the filters clog with fine, white dust—mostly calcium. Aside from switching to distilled water, we've never seen filters that were very dirty, though during dustier summer months (in Arizona) we occasionally remove and agitate the filters to remove dirt, dust, etc.
We wouldn't replace our large air purifier with these units, but we have found them useful for certain particulate matter, especially for our kids who are more prone to respiratory issues.

I vac all my pre-filters out every 2 weeks. I am always impressed with the 'stuff' on them - pet dander? Wife and Kid have allergies - this was my first year running air purifiers. They say it has helped.

Well said! I'm so tired of all these devices on my wifi. I have a smart garage door... Why... It's just a button 😆😆

Do your research. I got rid of my last one because the filters were so expensive and they actually aren't up to HEPA standards. Basically, Dyson challenged their HEPA claim and then Levoit responded by removing the "HEPA" from all of their purifier names. Read the title on Amazon. It doesn't even mention HEPA aside from sleep mode (whatever that is).

This is a good price. I got one for $5 more a couple of years ago, and I think that was from an SD post. As others have said, it's nice to not have to worry about Wifi, just turning it on and off by pressing a button (I like the shut off timer function, too).

As to the filtering: It is not truly a "HEPA" filter, as someone said. Whether that matters isn't entirely clear. Joey Fox, for instance, says no [itsairborne.com]. Now, if there were a choice between a HEPA filter and a non-HEPA filter for the same price, with the same specs otherwise, I'd opt for the HEPA filter, but I don't know that it is necessary.
