Yep the glorified chromebooks even the super expensive ones need to come down to $300-400 to be considered. Their software library is just going to the super limited for the next decade or two.

I have not purchased laptop for last five years or so so I feel pretty much outdated in terms of technology. Which one is better, snapdragon or Intel in terms of processor?

Serious question, is that statement really true? if it runs windows, i would think it would run everything that is compatible with the installed version of windows as far as software goes ... right?

depends on your usecase. if your use is for personal use and that means browsing, watching media and standard productivity stuff definitely go for snapdragon. Even Adobe lightroom and photoshop works well there. But if your workflow is highly customized and need some specific apps, check if it is supported for Windows on ARM. If it is, I would still recommend snapdragon over Intel. Performance is great and battery life is eye opener with Snapdragon laptops. I have intel based xps from 2yrs back and my wife has snapdragon one from a year back and I end up using her laptop more than mine

Most of the apps works well and native now. If you have a specific app that makes your purchase a deal breaker check before buy. If not, don't hesitate buying it over fear of what if down the line I have such app. Native support is increasing rapidly while most others are still supported via emulation. Just like apple did with their transition

Lots of comments on the CPU, which is the least of your concerns. The keyboard design, the lack of a visible trackpad and the hard Fn key touch panel are worse than the CPU.
