It's $12 don't have high expectations... If you pay $60 well yeah then perhaps it would not be great

I have two that I bought from Walmart and have had no issues. But then again, they don't get played with and banged around like they might if purchased as a toy for children. But if you're buying it for cosplay or just general fun I think you'll be fine.

Look… if you, an adult, want a fencing power saber, expect to pay between $100 - $300 (lightsaber, with licensing and crafted to look like a particular saber from the Star Wars movies, will cost more, I recently saw a review on a $600 one). This is a $12 toy, and toys are great! This one is apparently even innovative! I expect even non-self-extending saber toys to cost more than this.

And remember, if you have a rod as strong as wood, you can generate enough blunt force to break bones. As someone who accidentally broke a friend's nose with a broom handle as a 7 year old, this is way safer.
