Been waiting for the sale. Got a couple more Sahara hooded shirts, which are perfect for hiking in the sun. SPF 50+, cover the head, and breath well. Best to get the light colors, I have realized.

Look, Slickdeals has a lot of cheapskates here. You can't take the advice of someone who says that they don't like REI or Patagonia or any of the other extremely well-made high-quality brands. a lot of people just can't afford them and then they cope by saying that they can't find anything good or that the quality isn't any better than some crappy brand they already own

Anyone who hasn't found anything to buy at REI in years is either too poor to actually shop there or isn't actually an outdoors person. Gear gets used and abused and even high-quality stuff wears out over time

Works fine on outlet item. Prices are good for Altra shoes, possibly cheaper elsewhere, eg Altrashoes.com with their 20% discount for signing up for text alerts or something

20% on super overpriced store is not a deal
REI is generally charging the same as the manufacturers. You sometimes can find better sales elsewhere, though, but a sale price that's 20% below list is typical.

Yeah, what has happened this year? I'm finding a rash of black sun garments.

A bit of disagreement--I live in the desert. Rarely do my clothes touch any vegetation. And I hike, not scramble or rock climb. Thus even the more delicate stuff survives quite well for me.

I'm not poor and bought many outdoors stuff. I bought REI membership last March when purchasing a backpack. That's my only order from REI since I created my online account in 2014.
And today I tried to find "deals" on REI and wanted to buy a "Marmot GORE-TEX Lightray Pants" for $243.73 (list price $325.00). But eventually I bought from Marmot.com for $97.
As others said, REI is an overpriced store.
