At least the 5050 has 8gb of ram, and it'll run mostly everything at this laptop's native resolution. 12gb of RAM is odd (Guess it's 8gb + 4gb?). I will say that screen is decent at 144hz 300nits (with lenovo it's usually actually higher, closer to 350 if I had to guess). I also appreciate the backlit keyboard - though I've seen those specs on $500 laptops as well. This seems like too much money for this to actually be a real slick deal, by about $100.
If you were OK with these specs and had ID.me discount and Amex CB, it could be worth it. Lenovo quality is definitely worth it compared to other brands who might be less for the same specs - like Acer, HP, Dell.
Bought one of these a month ago. Solid laptop for gaming. I like the little overlock features and having the plugs at the back instead of the side is a nice little feature.

It's a single 12GB SO-DIMM. DDR5 comes in weird sizes for sure. It's a solid deal without any cashback, made even sweeter if you have an Amex card.

I disagree, this is not a solid deal. It's lukewarm at best. If it had a 1tb nvme and a full 16gb or more of ram, that might be solid. But as it is, it's low end in every aspect except for the mid-level screen and cpu.

To each their own, but I prefer a single stick of 12GB over 2x8GB so that I can upgrade it for under $40. Not to mention the stock drives these come with always are mid-tier DRAM-less SSDs, regardless of capacity. You can buy Samsung 980 Pro 2TB drives for $120 all day.. with the current tariff situation, I think you're being a little harsh on calling this low-end. You don't have a bunch of NVMEs sitting around you bought over the years when they're good deals? I can't be the only one.

lol so spending another $160 to make this usable somehow makes it a better deal?
Come on. This is a pretty generic laptop with a low end GPU in a whomp whomp 15.6 recycled chassis. Saying the throw away storage and RAM are easy replacements isn't helping that.

I honestly dont even care about the drive size or RAM (only that they're replicable for this exact reason. they really dont add a good amount of storage unless its super high end and I am almost certainly going to replace the storage (and possibly RAM) on purchase.

Now you're being hyperbolic. As if 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage is "unusable". What are all the Apple buyers doing with their similarly spec'd systems? Agree to disagree. You say this is a "bad" deal; I disagree -- Just look at everything around this same price point and you'll see it; Or not. I don't care to convince you otherwise.

Never said this was a 'bad' deal at all. I said this was $100 off from being a truly slick deal.
I've been around here a while, when it's a 60-class GPU in a chassis like this with that kind of screen and the rest of the setup, at this price point it's then truly a slick deal.
Update: I bought this and I've been putting it through some testing. RAM upgrade is a must. Downloading games through Steam would show 300 mbps peak on a 2.5gbit fiber connection (1gbps ethernet NIC on this laptop) with the stock 12GB single SO-DIMM. Installed a second 12GB stick and now I'm showing peaks of 900mbps on the stock 512GB SSD.
