It is a very single player-focused game. The only multiplayer that exists is the ability to invade another player's game and play as the girl who normally invades your game in single player. You do not need PS+ for the campaign. Also, a lot of people actually don't like the game. It got a lot of absurdly/undeservedly high reviews from professional critics when it came out; yet tons of gamers (myself, included) disagreed. It's a roguelike. If you don't know what a roguelike is, it's basically Groundhog Day. When you die, or finish a mission, you lose everything you found during that run. There are ways to make certain things permanent (guns, powers, etc…), but it requires repetition.
It's quite similar to games like Hitman or Outer Wilds in that regard, except as a first person momentum shooter game.

Every time you die, you start the day over, but you remember everything that you learned from their previous round.
So you know where everything is, you know where to find the information, etc. you know what's gonna happen when so I created a dynamic where based on the events that you are going to unfold you change your strategy until you beat the game in one shot
This is one of those things that is so intelligent that people just didn't understand how difficult it is to make something like this they just Groundhog Day
I do sing the praises of Disco Elysium. I will say that you should give it an earnest shot if you do try it. It can be a rough/boring start. It's super weird. I couldn't get into it for the life of me, at first. I put it aside for months, but finally decided to really give it a good try, since I had paid for it. After about 4 hours, I never wanted it to end. It was so freaking good. There is an insane amount of (weird) dialogue, and I admittedly had to skip a lot of it, because it was just too much, but even with the skipping, I loved it.
The developers call it "the Golden loop." That may or may not be in the game.
There is a nice speed run of the game on you tube that includes a developer commentary of the run that includes some nice BTS stuff
