I've been looking for an AIPC for a while. This is the cheapest one with the AMD AI 370 chip in it I've seen.

Add ram add an SSD you're good to go.

96gb 2x48gb $204
Crucial 48GB DDR5 RAM, 5600MHz $102 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C79T2CP7

Downside of this vs minisforum seems to be WiFi 6 vs WiFi 7 in others but for this chipset with 890M graphic chip in its APU

I haven't been in the market for a PC for many years now and have noticed these mini pcs a lot lately. Not familiar with the quality of them. Would they be suitable for 24/7 operation?

If AMD had an NPU driver for Linux for Ryzen AI 300 series CPUs, I'd be all over this for Proxmox.

many of them have a lot of reliability issues, if not all of them, compared to a normal desktop, if space is a big deal for you, nid recommend more of a mini desktop that looks like a normal desktop and has decent air flow, than one of these... for 24/7 running, you need to make sure what you get is known for reliability, or you'll be replacing it often.

These chips like fast memory. If you managed to get fast memory, it will be more expensive than the Gmktec version of this.

C'mon. These mini PCs have just as much as reliability issues with any consumer level products. The mb you buy from consumer product including literally any intel or AMD motherboard will be as likely to fail as these mini PCs when used 7x24. Electronics don't have much reliability issues. These mini PCs, just as Asus MSI or whatever brand there is, either die on arrival or run permanently. But they are not for 7x24 operation whatsoever. Consumer electronics simply won't be reliable no matter what you buy.
If you are comparing a standard full sized desktop to a mini pc or laptop- No. Everything needs to be miniaturized and this always ups the ante for thermals. It is not impossible to engineer a solution, but it's always steeper than a much larger form factor machine where you can get way more unimpeded airflow.

That being said mini pc's have come a long way, and both mini pc's and laptops typically prioritize efficiency so there is less power consumed up front and consequently less heat to dissipate in the first place. I would not be concerned with their reliability as a whole, but I would do my due diligence researching the specific models thermals and reliability before purchasing. Plenty of poorly designed mini pcs and laptops out there.

AMD does indeed have a driver for Linux kernels 6.10 and higher; however, the AMD does not support passthrough.

This deal was posted recently and didn't get any love:
https://slickdeals.net/f/18425236-acemagic-f3a-ai-mini-pc-amd-ryzen-ai-9-hx-370-64gb-ddr5-ram-1tb-nvme-ssd-radeon-890m-usb4-x2-dual-2-5g-lan-wifi-6-win-11-pro-794
But for $230 or so extra you get a 1TB SSD and 64GB of RAM, which is at least a $230 value.
So yes, more outdated Wifi, no Oculink but this does have an Radeon 890M and the HX 370 is a much beefier CPU than is ordinarily in these mini PCs. So this is pretty decent.
