Bought one the last time it was front page. Highly recommend it. Prints from my iPad fine. You can put it anywhere there is an electric outlet. Well worth the money!

These things are tanks and they are cheap to run. If you don't need an MFC, jump on it.
Send one with your kid to college with some generic toner so they can print in their dorm room.

Who is still printing things in college? This isn't 2005. Everything is digital.

Don't make your kid's first trip to college an exercise in large, clunky underperforming objects owning you. Every one of these "good intentions" is nothing more than an albatross around their necks. Dorm rooms are SMALL, and they're over-crowding them with 2-4 people in a space that's barely comfortable for one. Their first trip to one should be an exercise in minimalism -- let THEM decide on their own what they need and don't need, through experience.

Also, every college has MULTIPLE computer labs with low-cost or free printing allotments.

Even if you have an ink jet at home already you should buy this. With after-market toner you will save yourself a ton of money over what you're paying for your inkjet as most things people print do *not* require color. This thing is also loads faster than your average inkjet printer.

A purchase you'll never regret. These are excellent printers, and it will likely be with your kid into adulthood. Great price too.

If you need a reliable cheap laser printer probably a good deal. Still rocking an HL-2140 Staples refurb from like 12 years ago and a HL-2270DW from a client hand me down at work.

In for one. It's cheaper to buy this refurb than it is to buy a new drum.

Keep it mind to not put it on any battery backup as it does not have a large enough wattage/amps to run it. Also if you notice flickering, it's because it's on the same beaker as some other high load device.

I'm still running a HL-2170W apparently it came out in 2008. Brother laser printers are the best.

Free printing in college? This exists? I've attended and worked at multiple colleges and universities over the past 20 years, and I've never seen that. Even the public high school that I work in now charges students to print anything.

I have a similar older model that I've been using since about 2010. Still haven't seen a need to replace it. I go through a (generic) toner about every two years and I replaced the drum once (also got a generic, people say the generics aren't good for the drum but it has done fine for me).
