This is DRAM less so might not be the best for a boot drive. Great drive for videogames that utilize direct storage for fast loading.

Curious if anyone can post the temperature of this at idle once installed in case newly manufactured one is better than launch versions.

For context, I bought one at launch and the temp reported by Samsung Magician software with latest firmware and heat sink installed consistently shows +10-15 higher than my 960 Pro which surprised me as years of using Samsung drives was that it never runs hot at idle.

gen 3 drives run a lot cooler because it requires less volts even at idle.

Not sure why does the older 960 Pro runs cooler than this 990 Evo Plus at idle if you're saying gen 3 is in theory meant to be cooler
