This is DRAM less so might not be the best for a boot drive. Great drive for videogames that utilize direct storage for fast loading.
DRAM-less drives with HMB are perfectly fine as boot drives. Most people will never notice a difference between a drive with DRAM vs one with HMB.

Do I need an adapter for use with laptop that fits 2230?

The M.2 form factor uses the first 2 digits to denote width in mm, and the rest to denote length in mm, so 2230 is 22 mm wide x 30 mm long. M.2 slots that can accept a 2280 stick will usually have screw holes for mounting shorter sticks like 2242 or 2230. If your laptop's M.2 slot only has room for a 2230, a 2280 stick like this would be too long to fit.

For my experience, it has problem with gigabytes AM5 motherboards, my B650 sometimes can't find it in bios.
that would explain why my computer keeps bootlooping for like 10 minutes everytime I try to start it.
