Restrictions seem to make it not a deal. You'll have to pay for a bag at some point that is $100.

How do you figure? It's quite easy and refreshing traveling with only a carry on + personal item. Can fit 4-5 days worth of clothes, and everywhere has a laundry mat or laundry service that is much cheaper than checking a bag. You don't have to spend the extra time at the airport checking or waiting to collect your bag. The best part is lower airfares, and not having to worry about your bag getting lost or stolen.

If you're traveling with a family disregard everything I said; but for in individual or couple, it's really not bad. -Sometimes I'll buy a cheap suitcase/bag in my last country, and check it on my last flight home to carry souvenirs.

Average price for an economy flight to Japan this time of year is around $900-$1000 from U.S. So this is a few hundred savings over typical.

I want to bring things back. Paying extra for that makes the deal not worth it. I also like picking my seats.

What's the cost of a flight (without a deal) when you get one with free checked bags and seat selection?

I did 2.5 weeks in Japan this summer with just light carry on, amazingly they do have laundry machines there, a lot of hotels have them in the rooms even.

Great. I did 2 weeks in 2019 and 2023, and did laundry too. I appreciated being able to have a stowed bag.
