All standard 120V (10-12 Amp) electric pressure washers are perfectly safe to use on vehicles. Even 13hp 4000psi+ 4gpm gas units are fine - hold the wand twice the distance away from the surface you want to clean and you'd get similar cleaning power as an electric unit. It will just do it faster because it's covering a wider area. Being that we're talking force, it'd follow the inverse square law, so doubling or halving the distance cuts by 4, or multiplies by 4, the force of the spray against the surface.
GPM is still the best measure of what you can generally do with a pressure washer (higher pressure at a certain orifice size), not peak rated pump psi, with some exceptions. A 5/8" 50ft garden hose attached to a water line may flow 20gpm, but its psi is quite low.

We bought this one a couple weeks ago from Costco. Used it to clean some toys (wave runner, ATV), deck, and front porch. It's not as powerful as our 2400 gas power but definitely does the trick. And way lighter than gas.

Will the higher pressure strip off wax, clear coat, ceramic coating? I like the higher pressure for the undercarriage but I truthfully do not need another tool cluttering my garage.
Well I bought it. Reviews were pretty good. Military discount worked too which is nice.

Thank you for the detailed explanation on how to properly use a pressure washer. I do like the option of the jet nozzle higher pressure to seriously clean gutters and dirt off the undercarriage.
