Which hoses are clean?

Based on my experience almost everything has a prop65 warning, meaning nothing is clean.
Everything has it just to cover their own butt. California is probably the cause for the most ink waste of all time forcing everyone to put that on their products.

There is an interesting situation happening with allergy labeling that is somewhat similar. Companies are adding nuts so they don't have to certify as nut-free.

The only way it's a 'waste' would be because people in this country have been conditioned for decades to shrug off known health risks.

You'd want to know if the cup you drink out of every day leaches toxic chemicals into what you're drinking and is gradually killing you, right?

It's a waste because if you throw a label on literally everything, then no one knows what actually requires it. So then, everyone just ignores it. It defeats the purpose and is therefore, a waste.

Uh, no? It's informing you of the risk so you an ask yourself the question: "Am I going to use this product in a way that the toxicity could harm me?"

These warnings aren't 'on literally everything'. You're actively perpetuating the same kind of ignorance that has people 'shrugging it off'.
People shouldn't get offended by being informed about health risks. If anything, they should be offended by all the corporations' products that are effectively poisoning them.

Who's offended? What are you even talking about?

Yes, I know what the law is. What I'm asking is why can't HF offer a hose that doesn't have sh*t in it?

Do I think the Cali law might be heavy-handed? Perhaps.

Nonetheless, it's 2025, do I expect an outfit like HF to offer a "clean" hose? Yes, of course I do. We all should. It's not rocket science.
I dont know the specifics of Prop 65, but likely the reason for this is "lead-free" brass connectors are not actually lead free. They allow a very small percentage of lead, so I assume this triggers the Prop 65 warning.

Overall I've been pretty unimpressed with garden hoses the past few years. All the HF ones are PVC if you read the description, so the contractor grade one is just heavier duty PVC compared to the green one. This means that both will kink the first time you look at them funny. I used to have good luck with the neverkink hoses that Costco sold, but they went to crap during covid and I actually returned the last one I bought there. Purchased a Goodyear or Continental branded one at Home Depot looking for the old school black rubber hose that stays flexible in cold weather, and well its up there with the worst hoses I own. Flexzilla ones seem to be decent so far but I only have a couple seasons of use on them.

Also if you want a nozzle, get a fireman style nozzle. Not sure if the HF nozzle is any good, but the trigger style nozzles are mostly all terrible.

Those tan 3/4" Greenwood hoses are a pain in my ass. I have a 100ft and a 50ft and both kink in a way you wouldn't expect, like even on a straight run they'll just kind of collapse in a 4" section and twist slightly. Can't get them to unpinch because they're so thick walled. One of my great hose regrets of this summer.

You can expect what you want. You can always pass on it if it doesn't meet your material composition demands. That isn't rocket science either. You may be taking water hose shopping a little too far but that's your prerogative.

Best hoses are the red agricultural hoses. They are designed to be run around horses, animals. who will regularly stand on them, chew on them and you really have to set your mind to it to kink them. Got mine from HD 10 years ago on a reel and works amazing; never a problem aside from being a little heavy to reel up (100ft hose) if fully extended.

The California law has a flaw where it is easier and cheaper to just slap the warning on it than test that it doesnt have harmful chemicals resulting in everything having the warning unless they're testing to make it a selling point. The preferable way would be to require testing and then list what was detected but the law is backwards.

Agree 💯 Even if it doesn't technically need it due to materials used, better safe to put it than risk a frivolent lawsuit from a gold digger. It's literally on just about everything here in CA.

I could careless about california or prop65. I dont expect to drink water from my garden hose. I was looking to read feedback about the hose but 70% of it is about prop65...
