Good to hear, this one caught my eye because it is made by a good brand Lenovo, reasonable CPU (i5 11th gen equivalent) has 16gb and has decent intergrated graphics power for light gaming. The main issues is the 256gb hard drive but can be upgraded for reasonable money. When you are looking for under $300 for a laptop there are always some compromises, but this one is pretty solid.

Add 4.9/5 star reviews and this might be exactly what you are looking for.

Honestly, my recommendation is to keep looking. Falling for a TN panel is a rookie mistake - you will regret it. Doesn't matter if you're "always plugging into an external display," it's still garbage to use the second you're away from your desk.
And if you're only ever going to use an external monitor, then why even buy a laptop in the first place? At that point a desktop or mini PC makes way more sense. Just don't fool yourself with those random no-name mini PCs on Amazon – unless you're comfortable wiping and reinstalling the OS
Agree with those no name brand PC's they are junk, basically disposable.

And I'm 50/50 in recommending this, if we consider waiting (it expired now, but I expect more deals on Windows on ARM devices)
Best Buy: Open Box: Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x: 14.5" 3K 90Hz OLED Touch, Snapdragon X Elite
for $150 more it's fantastic.
I checked the one you recommended for $600 - no, thank you. This is no good.

Without getting into it too much - wife works for a non-profit assisting single mothers with a primary focus of providing support for mom's that have children 1-3 years old or so range. It is in place to be somewhat of a support or almost a mentoring relationship for moms in the program. Can vary with need - some need help with job searchs, some need help finding child care, emergency auto repair, and in some extremes getting out of toxic situations and scenarios. It can vary wildly. Her main role is coordinating the moms and volunteers/assistance and what that means changes daily...

Her need really is pretty basic - emails, internet, some google docs etc., zoom calls at times. We are trying to keep costs down a bit since either the company she works for is going to cover (in which case we want to be responsible with the $'s) or we are going to buy as a donation so it does not need to be covered. I am fine spending $500-$600 if we need to but I also don't want to if this is good enough. Or another option is good enough.

Before I started really looking I assumed I would need to get into the $500-ish range to at least get something decent, so that is not out of the question. I just saw this and it is a bit lower and trying to decide if it will suffice for her needs.

To answer the one question - she works from home every day, it is a almost full time job, closer to 5-6 hours a day. But 1-2 times a month they have meetings with the moms and she needs to have a laptop with her for those. And they have othe events now and then. Plus we do go on vacation 2-3 times a year and she would like it for work for that. We already have a very nice desktop for the overall household use but it is usually in use by myself whenI am working from home, or the kids etc. We need a dedicated one for her in other words.

Wow, sorry for the lengthy response, didn't mean for it to be so long but I thought some background might help.
Where I am now is I thnk this MIGHT suit her needs at least. But I am going to look up to the $500-$550 range and see if there is another option with slightly better specs and go from there. But again this was my first look at researching and all of the comments ahve been very helpful. Huge thank you again to everyone. Sorry if I monoplozed the thread. But her needs are most likely about the case scenario of others that would be looking in this range anyway.

I am wanting to get a basic laptop for my wife for her work. will consist mainly of emails, Internet browsing, basic Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft office work, a lot of Zoom calls etc.
Zero gaming or anything else I would think as anything overly intensive .
Would this meet those needs? I want to get something fairly decent but I don't need to break the bank to get more than she needs

thanks
Any basic laptop with over 16gb ram is good enough for $200-400. Most are refurbished in new condition with IPS display, 512gb ssd
I like Intel 226v, 155h for $400 for best battery life for low cost
