It's very wide and would be nice for work if you need the extra space to display multiple windows. Personally if I was spending this much and wanted it for gaming I'd go with a OLED model with the same resolution, there have been sales around this price point with OLED recently.

upvotes are from staffs and samdung employees. OLED is fantastic for gaming but because it's ultrawide some games may not support that aspect ratio. keep that in mind. price is pretty good. I got mine about 5 years ago paid a lot more

These monitors are cool and all, but not every game supports the resolution. FPS games can't handle it, and the image along the sides warps, which is distracting and makes me personally nauseous.

I would recommend these for productivity more than gaming. I moved mine to the office, and now use 4K OLED for gaming.

I have a standard 49" and 49" OLED, both 240hz. Both fantastic monitors, but burn-in on the OLED is always in the back of my mind, which has changed the way I navigate my computer slightly (autohide taskbar, downloading a piece of software that makes window borders switch colors, switching to fullscreen for some videos, etc.). If that bothers you, don't bother with the OLED.

Anyway OP's monitor is decent for entry-level 49", but if I could do it all over again, I'd wait on a 57" OLED. 49" = dual 27" monitors, 57" = dual 30" monitors. The extra vertical space is actually really nice to have.

As far as gaming, most modern games support super ultrawide resolutions, but some still need some modding or something, all free but timely things if you want to take full advantage. Getting the full 144 fps will need a modern GPU, though, unless you're playing on low settings or an old game. Productivity is better than two separate monitors, even if there's an equal amount of screen area. You'll also have to set the monitor a certain distance for it to be optimal, so consider that if you lack the space.

If you're on the edge, test one out at a store, then make the leap and keep the boxes and stuff for returns just in case. For me, super ultrawide monitors are one of those pieces of equipment that once you use, you can never go back/smaller.
