I think they were originally trying to find out which subreddit you found it in. I'd love to know to diversify my deal hunting. thanks. 🙏
I guess that makes sense. Probably would have been better if he'd explained that properly.

And you didn't share the deal here?
I don't blame them. Last time I posted an amazing deal on here, the item quickly sold out and I later got an email notification that my order had been cancelled due to it being out of stock. 😑

Sent the EVO PLUS back. Driver not compatible with current Window 11 and no way to fix it except a very complicated BIOS FW hack.
WD, Kingston, Crucial, Patriot, ETC would be safer.

It is a grand tradition, along with dogpiling mini form factor PCs, claiming they have viruses preinstalled

Which is absolutely deranged on their part.

In this case I'm. Literally trying to save them from a return potentially
They're banking on the fact that the average person is lazy enough to not bother doing the return process, but not lazy enough to go into a chat and request a "partial refund". Although I totally think the average SDer doesn't fit that bill.

Just purchased through Bestbuy. I had a free $10 to spend.

I price matched with an online agent got it to this price and then added the $10 for a total of $217 (tax included) picked up. Thanks OP.
The agent refused for me since the model numbers are different

Outdated? You realize this is a newer model? On package DRAM is being supplanted by HMB which reduces the cost and complexity for manufacturers. HMB (Host Memory Buffer) allows the controller to use a small amount of system memory to store the data mapping information. This process is done over the very fast PCIe bus and uses a negligible amount of system memory.
If I'm using a m1 Mac mini and a thunderbolt 4 enclosure should I avoid this and other HMB NVME?

As far as I know, MacOS does not support HMB over Thunderbolt 4. The disk will still work, but at reduced performance. If your only choice is an external enclosure, you would be better served with a disk that uses an on-board DRAM package.

That stinks. The part numbers WDS400T4X0E-00CJA0 and WDBELG0040BBK-WRSN refer to the exact same product: the Western Digital WD_BLACK SN7100 4TB NVMe SSD. The different numbers simply identify different channels of distribution or packaging for this identical internal drive. WDS400T4X0E-00CJA0 (Channel) vs. WDBELG0040BBK-WRSN (Retail)

Interesting, mine was a breeze to price match. Perhaps the model number they were using was incorrect. I would try it again and add the same SSD to your cart before you try to price match with the live agent.

I do think $210 has become a normal price for this drive.

Wow that's actually really interesting, I hate how so many electronics manufacturers make their product numbers so cryptic (looking at you, monitor brands!!) I'm curious, how did you find out this particular information about the WD product numbers?
