Bought these for hiking recently. But the zip line (to convert pants - shorts) is too thick and very uncomfortable. I'd rather just take some very light shorts on a hike.

As a Seattle-lite (REI's home base) I've been an REI fan and co-op member for 25+ years. I've owned about 10 Sahara pants during this time. They've made tweaks over the last few years that I'm just not a fan of. I did get one about 5 months ago and returned a few days later after a short hike in early-Spring weather. Have a look at the reviews: I pretty much agree 100% with all of the "cons" of this version.

I'd love for them to go back to the OG design.
