I was about to pull the trigger, but did a little research. For anyone who's interested, this is a good price for the spec. Typically go for $200+, although you can grab a refurbished one on Woot for $10 less (with a new battery inside). But the biggest issue with these UPS is that they use lead-acid batteries. So they will have a short life span since you're running it 24/7, typically around 2-3 years (based on reviews). If longevity is of your concern, go for the LiFePO4 lithium battery; they will last you much longer.

This is known that the batteries need replacement in a few years. Which lithium battery one do you suggest?

Yeah the batteries are pretty worthless with surprising consistency right around 30-36 months. I replace them with generics from Amazon, usually costs about $40 for a set and takes about 5-10 minutes to replace them once the unit is accessible.
Will be interesting to see the real world lifespan of the new ones with lifepo4 batteries in them now that they are available. I bought a fancy rackmount APC with lithium ion batteries for work once and it was completely dead and useless in less than 2 years.

LiFePO4 batteries can be swapped into these units as-is? Or is a completely different unit needed?

[Edit] Regardless, I'm in for one. I buy a new one every couple of years to offset my battery lifespans (I have a handful of units in total), and I'm slowly phasing out the ones that have the conductive glue issue. Thanks OP!

I don't recommend the cyber power units if you have critical devices on the unit. Not sure if it's age related ... Apparently there's a tendency for them to just randomly lose power even if you have good batteries or on utility power.

My unit started acting up about 3 years in and it didn't make any sense as it continued after I replaced batteries. Found a thread on reddit where others reported similar issues.

GoldenMate makes a few. I have 2 of their 1500va units in my network rack.

How is this different from a similar spec (1500VA/900W) one at Costco for $149 https://www.costco.com/cyberpower...18695.html

No, LifePo4 batteries shouldn't be put in these because the charging circuit isn't designed for it. I was also considering a LifePo4 unit but am wondering if they also have line-interactive /ALR on them while on AC power. Just started researching it today and haven't gotten too far yet.

If you're replacing your UPS with this device, I don't see any surge protection or joules rating. A UPS and a power bank serve different purposes.

FWIW, I have two Cyberpower untts - one 5 yrs old, and the other 6yrs old - both running original batteries with no issue when the power goes out.
