With Overdrive
id check if overdrive disables other things. my older gaming monitor does but to the point of making the monitor look horrible.

I have been using 2 sets of these for several years now. one set in the office, and another at home. no issues and look great.
hell, there are about 6 people in my office with same setup and never heard of an issue.

Any TN, IPS and VA panel and their derivatives, all are based on LCD technology. Why so surprised to find out that IPS is LCD?

Get ready to fight off HP bloatware every two seconds... I didn't know that monitors could request automatic software downloads from microsoft, but it does.

Omen Hub, or whatever, has wigged out a couple times and literally maxed out 32gb of ram and crashed my computer. I had to go into safe mode and disable HP Omen stuff from the task scheduler, because it kept re-installing after I nuked it. WTF?

Genuine question: What...benefit do you get from installing software to "manage" your monitor? Never seen that before.

People seem to be debating between the deal posted here, the MSI from Costco (frontpage) and the Gigabyte you linked.
  • Rtings doesn't seem to care for the Gigabyte too much.
  • My personal experience with the MSI was underwhelming.
  • Rtings does like the HP Omen pretty well (or at least its predecessor) but some users have experienced issues with noise/buzzing from the monitor that HP doesn't want to address.

So I guess...pick your poison. Pretty easy to return the MSI (Costco) or Gigabyte (Amazon) if you want to try them out.

It's like the bloatware that Razer products install. It wants to manage your games and system settings. Clean ram, etc...

Junk.

words carry a lot of weight. A name like Omen naturally brings up thoughts of misfortune, darkness, or doom, which can give off a negative vibe. For something you own, especially if it's tied to performance, pride, or enjoyment, you probably want a name that inspires confidence, strength, or good fortune instead of something that feels "destined to fail."
